“THE YOUTH WHO SOLD THE WORLD” IS MADE IN COLLABORATION WITH STUDENTS FROM UNGDOMSCENTER HØJSTRUP. IT’S A VIDEO INSTALLATION IMITATING AN ADVERTISEMENT WINDOW, BUT THIS TIME NOTHING IS BEING SOLD. INSTEAD, THE YOUTH HAVE CONQUERED THE SPACE BACK FROM THE DOMINATING MARKET FORCES AND NOW THEY CONTROL THE AGENDA. VIDEOS MADE BY THE STUDENTS IS PLAYED IN RANDOM ORDER CREATING CONFUSION IN THE INTERPRETATION OF THE INPUT RECEIVED. ARE THEY TRYING TO TELL US SOMETHING OR IS IT ONLY ANOTHER NOISE IN OUR BOMBARDED LIFE?
“THE YOUTH WHO SOLD THE WORLD” IS A PART OF THE ART PROJECT “ART X ACTION” CREATED BY THE ART BUREAU ANOTHER PUBLIC. THE PROJECT INVITES THE YOUTH TO START A DIALOG AND REFLECT ON THE BIG COMMERCIAL FORCES THAT CONTROL THEIR SPACES. IN COLLABORATION WITH SIX LOCAL ARTISTS FROM FUNEN, SIX ARTWORKS WAS CREATED. THROUGH WORKSHOPS WITH THE KIDS AND/OR YOUNG PEOPLE, THEY TURN THEIR VOICES INTO ARTWORKS THAT DISPLACES, DISRUPTS, OR TRANSFORMS THE COMMERCIAL SCENE.
